Cynthia rated it it was ok Jun 21, Frampton is a permanent resident of the USA. In a collection of Frampton’s writings over a period of 35 years was collated and published under the title Labour, Work and Architecture.
He has been a member of the faculty at Columbia University sinceand that same year he became a fellow of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York — whose members also included Peter Eisenman, Manfredo Tafuri and Rem Koolhaas — and a co-founding editor of its magazine Oppositions.
He lectures extensively in the US and Europe, and has also written, edited and contributed to numerous publications on contemporary architecture. This is fframpton far the best monograph of Alvaro Siza, and a must have if one wants to thoroughly understand his work.
Matthew rated it really liked it Dec 16, No trivia or quizzes yet. Frampton achieved great prominence and influence in architectural education with his essay “Towards a Critical Regionalism” — though the term had already been coined by Alexander Tzonis and Liliane Lefaivre.
An exceptional publication in which the buildings have been allowed to speak for themselves, and in doing so have created a pictorial history of the vision and life work of this revered architect.
