The book suggests trhough all babies wake naturally and all they need is a the ability to self-soothe herself back to sleep.

Do I have no good words for this book? This was long before the days of Amazon prime – we had to have the book fed exed to us because we couldn’t stand it anymore. I do recognize there will be some tears, as there are daily tears with the wee ones, and I do know that I ,indell some resolve when it comes to discipline after a few years of teaching high school and a few years of teaching college, I have had a steep learning curve in this depart I read this as a preventative measure; my daughter is six weeks old and we co-sleep, but eventually we’ll transition to her own room and her own bed, and I want that transition to be as gentle for all of us as possible.

We’ve begun to implement many of the ideas in this book, and our daughter is already going to bed much more quickly and has dropped one of her overnight awakenings! Not checking seems to prolong the process. I’ve recommended this book to several families that I’ve worked with in a seleping capacity and recently picked it up again to come up with a plan for helping my own infant sleep.

You just have to survive until baby figures out their own sleep schedule– you can help it along a bit but not much.

I feel like I was given tools without being held at gunpoint to use them. My daughter hates going to bed, what can I do? The best part about this book is that the author isn’t preachy or extreme in her views and advice, which is so refreshing. You can soothe him with kisses and belly rubs in the crib.

Plus, it covers a wide variety of sleep issues for both kids and adults. I think that tip shortened the sleep training process by a few days. If I could only pick one sleep book, though, it would be this one. Mindell does recommend graduated extinction though which so far I’ve been trying to avoid, but I think she still has a lot of helpful advice and information.

But her sleep seems to be so different from the start.
