My review on the book by Nirupama Subramaniam – Intermission. Smita recommended this book on my review of the Author’s first book. Varun, lives a ordered, boring, not-so-happily married life with his wife.

Quite expectedly, she has set her story in the intermisdion city to see “what happens when the community throws people from various backgrounds together. While I had absolutely loved the author’s debut novel,I didn’t like this one at all. Varun appears to have settled in well, while Gayatri is finding it far more difficult to take to the place and the way of things.

The narration is slow at times, and quickly moves to a speedy one on the next page. A double pat on the Author’s back for concluding the story which satisfies the culture of India: The extra marital relationship may whine and vouch for each other, but they have very little ihtermission understand in each other situations. In the midst of the tumultuous love story of Varun and Sweety, the author also rakes open a plethora of issues ranging from the relationship between masters and servants, societal pressures and troubles of the urban family.
