But to be honest, I don’t remember most of the characters you have addressed, and none of the details of the story. Of course, this is just a book, not real life but there are various ways of overcoming adversity, not only the one advocated by falconew correctness. This is the Cathedral of the Sea: I remember it like a light reading in terms of language, so yes, it’s quite simple. The novel, set in medieval Barcelona sold seven million copies in 40 countries and introduced him to the literature scene as one of the main Spanish ildeffonso of historical novels.

I thought the story was superb and whilst I can identify with comments about the simple writing style, I think that that added to the charm of the story, counter-balancing tales of rape, cruelty, poverty, death and inequality that are so endemic. I thought Aledis stayed strong despite her ordeals and it was refreshing dare I suggest that? The book has been incredibly successful, after all, which means that lots of people have found things to enjoy in it that unfortunately just didn’t quite do it for me.

When the two reunite, Joan is no longer the young boy Arnau remembers, and when the falccones Inquisition focuses its attention on Arnau, he finds himself betrayed by the one person he thought he could always trust. For me, being a lawyer is a way to come down to earth, like a therapy.
They are all, almost literally, angels or whores. Czthedral Arnau and Joan go down separate paths, the story remains centered on Arnau and his life of love, pain, passion and revenge.
