King sets up this awesome redemptive story for Rose, a battered wife that has run away from her abuser, and then he slaughters that story by saving Rose’s life with some supernatural nonsense. Of course, it’s obvious that Rose Madder is Rosie’s alter ego, but what’s the meaning behind Dorcas? Still, Rose Madder is okay.
