These are characters that seem all able to survive through a pragmatic realism and a cold calculation that both allows for their survival but also contributes to the suffering around them Father Prada excluded. From page one, you are reading downhill. There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this rel. The Power of the Dog manages to seamlessly transition between scope and intimacy, to show us both the bigger picture, and to give us a gritty feel for dd smaller details.
There are bad guys everywhere, and a LOT of money changing hands, making good guys bad guys. I read The Cartel first and this one second. Entrevista a Don Winslow en la web de su editorial. The four of them embark on a tale of greed and violence and corruption where the bad guys aren’t always completely bad and the good guys end up doing some pretty bad things themselves. Pdrro Gauer ruined this variety of literature for me.
There might not be anything on earth quite as frustrating. As I said, the author takes real life events and weaves pooder fictional tale around them.
