This book made me cry.

Inthird novel, My Best Friend’s Girl was published. Worryingly, there is also a chilling note from Eve: The passionate intense love between Jack and Eve was so different between that of Libby and Jack, that I wanted both to have survived. I thought the book managed to keep its pace really well. Eorothy Beach Wedding Quick Reads I thought it was an excellent read but it was incomparable to her novel released in The Ice Cream Girls, that was… there are few words to describe just how amazing The Ice Cream Girls really was.

The plot of The Woman He Loved Before is hard to define; it’s hard to discuss without spoiling it because despite my thoughts on the synopsis, I didn’t have a pre-conceived notion of what the book was going to be about, what was going to happen.
I love the way Koomson writes children but there was no place in this plot for a child, so Benji’s brief appearance had to be sufficient.
I had no idea that twist was coming, although when it was revealed there’s part of me that did say “Well it had to happen, didn’t it? Either Koomson should have given it its due or she should have scrapped it because the way it was, was nonsensical and it felt unfinished.

Eve’s sections are her diary extracts that Libby is reading, this works well as we really get to know the character through her diaries. Jack is uninjured but Libby is in a critical condition and suffers a bad head injury along with many cuts and bruises.

I personally am not a fan of alternating person narration and this novel is split between the two main characters in the central relationship Libby and Bsfore as well as diary entries from Dorotny first wife Eve and a final bit from Jack’s mother Harriet.

I really appreciated the sensitive and thoughtful way the writer dealt with important issues like beauty and grief and sexual exploitation. October 28, at The Woman He Loved Before was different – while it still had an educated Black woman Libby facing difficult decisions, the backstory was much darker, much more challenging. The Best Books of Surely it’s time Dorothy’s publishers lost the pastel covers and started publishing ooomson books with a cover that does justice to the writing inside.
Although the novel was brilliant, I do have to question a few points. I think Koomson balanced it nicely, but it did still make me feel slightly uncomfortable, just through the choices Eve had to make. I loved the plot, after a major accident Libby starts to question her relationship with Jack, and as koomwon begins to investigate her questions only get bigger.
