The “unfinished” character of T1 is appealing to me; I see it as representing unexplored possibilities and, for me, that’s the essence of old villge module making. The Village of Hommlet. I am sure they also fought those damn frogs. Wizards of the Coast also published a sequel to the T adventure inthe 3rd Edition module Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. Hommlet itself is a joy.

The Citadel was notable for its absence at this pivotal moment in the history of the Flanaess, and their failure to take part in the Battle of Emridy Meadows contributed to the group’s decline and eventual disbandment.
Things quieted down for another four villave as the area returned to peace and normalcy, but in CY evil began to stir again, with groups of bandits riding the roads.
Great to see dialogue about this…. The adventurers travel through Hommlet and are drawn into a web of conspiracy and deception. The module is recommended for first-level characters, who begin the adventure “weary, weak, and practically void of money”.
Worldbuilding, Storybuilding, DM Discussion. But once you strip away the rosy tint of nostalgia and the halcyon glow of the adventures of yesteryear what makes the Village of Hommlet so awesome?
