Piemur isn’t a bad sort, just a rather impetuous boy who gets in a lot of trouble. It explores a young girl’s nane which goes against society which ultimately becomes reality. When the drudges stop work to eat, Piemur attempts to leave, only to be barred at the gates by the guards. I liked this one almost as much as the first two. She is understood only to the degree that Piemur understands her.

But when his voice begins to change, Piemur loses all confidence and questions everything he thought he knew about himself. When Piemur’s clear treble voice changes, his place among the Harpers is no longer certain. NB – You can get the rest of Menolly’s story in The White Dragon, which I think can be read before this one if you’re feeling impatient.

Unfortunately, his theft of the fire lizard egg is discovered while he sleeps, and Piemur wakes to find people searching for him. Don’t go into this book expecting much Menolly; this is Piemur’s book. I have no idea why Piemur wants to stay, nor do I think his motivations are adequately addressed.

Out of the three books, this one is the best even though the main character switches from Menolly to her best friend. Sign up and get a free eBook! Harper Hall of Pern 3 books. This Harper Hall trilogy is such a marvelous addition to the Dragonriders of Pern series. Dragondrums is the third of the “Harper” books and though it also works fine as a standalone, the previous two books did initially establish Piemur, the main character in the book.

I understand why this book disappoints a lot of readers. But Piemur is very far from having just this one ability and Master Robinton knows how precious Wnne is. I would really like to know if Mrs. Piemur’s story is fun and adventuresome. There were lots of characters that something happened to and then were forgotten about. There is some fun with the politics of Pern in the background and I found it to be as always a sweet and short read.

That said, Piemur’s snark is still there, and having “accompanied” him on his adventures Surprisingly captivating and exciting read. I wish there were a fourth book as I’m not quite ready to leave Piemur behind.

So you need to read those books too! McCaffrey does manage to situate this story in the larger plot – something she failed to do in the last story – but this seems to come at the expense of the worldbuilding.

Why does every fantasy series have to be a trilogy or longer? It is odd, and I don’t know yet what I think about it, but it is reintroduced here.

By the time the three children of her marriage were comfortably in school most of the day, she had already achieved enough success with short stories to devote full time to writing.

I felt that more could have been done with the book and characters which left overall a little dissatified with the series. The Masterharper takes him and ha This znne follows Piemur.
